Aug 19, 2024
1 min read

It's been a spell since our last, so... we are excited to announce the Loud Coffee Press Summer Micro-fiction Contest!

All you have to do is check out the photo on the inside back cover of our latest issue and write a 250-word story about it. It can be about anything your brain can dream up, make sure it's 250 words or shorter!

Why only 250 words? We've found that working within tight constraints fosters creativity and teaches economic storytelling. For tips on writing micro-fiction, check out this link to NYC Midnight! NYC Midnight is known for its fun writing contests. We've participated in a few in years gone by!

If you're thinking about participating, we encourage you to get off the fence and give it a try. Even if you've never written before, this is a wonderful place to start! Also, if you know someone who might be interested, please share!

Details below:

Prize: We will feature the winner in our upcoming fall 2024 issue and the winner will receive two free print copies of that issue!

Here’s how you enter:

1. Check out the inside back cover of our summer 2024 issue due on 8/16 where you see an image.

2. Write a 250-word or less story based on the image and email LOUDCOFFEEPRESS@Gmail.com with the subject line: Summer 2024 Micro-Fiction Contest.

The claim that tight constraints foster creativity is interesting, and 250 words feels like a genuinely different challenge than flash fiction's usual 500 or 1,000. I wonder whether the image prompt makes it harder or easier to stay economical, since a single visual can invite sprawling description rather than compression. Do you find entrants lean toward literal interpretations of the photo, or does the constraint push them somewhere more unexpected?

I like straightforward information about p999 game login because users should not have to guess where or how to access an account. Clear guidance, combined with reminders to keep credentials private and verify the website, makes the information more useful for everyday users.

What a fantastic idea! I love that you’re encouraging writers to work within that 250-word constraint—it really does push you to make every single word count. The photo on the inside back cover of the summer issue is already sparking ideas for me. I’ve been on the fence about entering, but your encouragement (and the NYC Midnight tip!) might just push me over. Thanks for creating such a welcoming space for both new and seasoned writers. Can’t wait to see what everyone dreams up!
